Your guide to leveling up in-person payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone
Hi Eric,
You're all set to start accepting in-person payments via Tap to Pay on iPhone in your Your Financial Institution mobile app!
Here are three easy things to keep in mind to help level up your in-person payment experience:
Tip #1: Ask your customer to hold their card or device at the top of your iPhone
No matter what payment method your customer attempts to pay with (physical debit and credit cards, Apple Pay or another digital wallet), you pay just 2.75%, and the money always lands directly in your Your Financial Institution account.
When your customer is getting ready to pay you via Tap to Pay on iPhone, make sure to present the top of your phone to accept their payment.
If your customer is using Apple Pay or another digital wallet, they'll just need to hold their device near the top of your phone.
The quickest way to accept a physical card payment is to ask your customer to hold their card horizontally directly over the top of your phone (it should only take a few seconds to trigger the payment).
Here's a short, 15 second video outlining how to present your phone to accept payment (click the video to play):
Tip #2: Make sure your customer's card is enabled for contactless payments
If your customer doesn't have Apple Pay or another digital wallet ready to use, they can still pay you with a physical card (even Amex).
You'll want to make sure their card is enabled for contactless payments (it will have four curved lines that get bigger from left to right on the front or back of the card).
Tip #3: Make sure your customers know you accept cards and digital wallets!
If you're getting ready to setup shop and accept payments from your customers, letting them know you offer the convenience of card and digital wallet payments can help you get paid faster and keep your line moving.
Printing this flyer can help you let your customers know that you're ready to accept payments without them needing to log into a third party payment app.
